They are not defined by specific heroes, but how the combination of heroes in the team comp works to enable the team. Regardless of the perceived role or hero played, anyone in the support role should focus on making decisions that can enable to their team members, which more often than not, is not necessarily just healing them. Not trying to be toxic but these forums already lack education about this topic and this further spreads misinformation, and OP is clearly already confused. I mean it can change my view as well. You almost always want to pair a main support with a flex support. The main support peels for the flex support ex. Main supports also focus on buffing allies in addition to their peel. Stuff like damage boost, rez, speed boost, armor packs, rally, etc. They tend to be self-reliant and can stay alive on their own without needing much peel. Flex supports tend to focus on debuffing enemies anti nade, discord orb or applying their own damage pressure Bap damage, Zen damage. They also focus on providing healing to the team, especially the tanks. Off healer on ladder usually is just the person who heals less and has a defensive ult.
