The Otsutsuki Clan is easily the strongest family to ever appear in the Naruto franchise.

Who exactly are the Otsutsuki clan in Naruto? Back when Naruto was rapidly hurtling towards its final arc, many fans predicted that either the ancient Madara or Naruto 's ongoing rival, Sasuke, would be the final villain. Instead, Masashi Kishimoto took his entire audience by surprise, introducing a new character that swiftly put down Madara and assumed the position of arch-antagonist right as the story looked to be coming to a close. Kaguya Otsutsuki is revealed as the catalyst for almost every major event in the Naruto series and although the final battle in the series is, as predicted, Naruto vs. Sasuke, Kaguya is the ultimate true villain of the piece. Unfortunately, Kaguya was unveiled very late in the story and has a relatively complex origin story, leaving some fans confused as to exactly what Kaguya was, what she wanted and where she came from. The anime made attempts to fix this with extended flashbacks, but the reality-bending mythology of the Otsutsuki clan has continued to expand even after Naruto 's conclusion, furthering their sense of mystery.

Having devised a plan to absorb their chakra, she integrated with the Earth's God Tree and became the Ten-Tails. The Ten-Tails' chakra was sealed into Hagoromo while its husk, the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path , was hidden away and sealed on the Moon, in order to prevent the Ten-Tails' revival. Before being sealed, Kaguya created a parasitic lifeform containing her will, Black Zetsu to find a way to revive her. Leaving leadership of the clan to Hamura, he decreed that the clan would stand guard over the Demonic Statue. Before he died, he passed over his eldest son, Indra , and entrusted his mission of peace to his youngest son, Asura.

But like his brother, Asura isn't quite as strong as the full-blooded Otsutsuki clan members. Having been built up for years, the war took a sudden turn when the likes of Kaguya Otsutsuki were introduced to the franchise. Their origins remain shrouded in space-faring mystery, but despite their enigmatic profile, the Otsutsuki Clan's monstrous power is completely undeniable. After being tricked by her, he was able to use Jigen as his vessel, eventually using the body to simultaneously defeat both Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. He, just like all the other members of the Otsutsuki clan , went from planet to planet consuming chakra fruits and growing stronger. For some reason, Hagoromo was much stronger than his brother, Hamura, causing even their overpowered mother to feel threatened by him. Momoshiki had the powers of the Byakugan and possessed the Rinnegan on top of that. As genetically advanced beings, the Otsutsuki have multiple Kekkei Genkai at their disposal and are quite capable of achieving fearsome feats like destroying planets. Whereas the likes of the Uchiha and the Hyuga have one Kekkei Genkai, different members of the Otsutsuki clan seem to possess different powers that may or may not be the same. Each time she is featured in a fight, Kaguya faces multiple opponents: both Hagoromo and Hamura are needed to subdue her; the entirety of Team 7 after Kakashi, Naruto, and Sasuke all receiving some type of upgrade; and the exclusively Otsutsuki execution team of Momoshiki, Kinshiki, and Urashiki are all sent to dispose of her. Kinshiki's feature moment comes when he fights Sasuke, and even though Sasuke is in a weakened state, Kinshiki is able to force him to retreat. Isshiki wasn't able to actualize this goal however, as he was defeated by Naruto after Kurama gave his to grant Naruto Byron Mode. The clan sent Kaguya and Isshiki to Earth to collect and prepare its chakra for them. Known to be the progenitor of chakra on earth, Kaguya Otsutsuki came to earth a long time ago and eventually became its ruler.

Furthermore, Isshiki could make use of a dimension where time didn't flow at all. Kaguya Otsutsuki's introduction in Naruto as the main villain over Madara Uchiha went down as arguably the worst decision that Kishimoto took in over a decade. However, they are less pronounced and generally appear to be the same colour as their skin. Years later during the Seventh Hokage's era, Momoshiki and Kinshiki in another world became aware of the abnormalities in Kaguya's world, prompting them to inform their clan and investigate the situation.
