The Invincible season 1 finale saw Omni-Man shoot off into space after an epically calamitous brawl with his son, but in the season 2 premiere, the public thinks the conflict ended differently. Invincible season 1 was an emotional roller coaster for the title character, aka Mark Grayson, as he learned his almighty superhero father, Omni-Man, wasn't who he or the world believed him to be. On the surface, Omni-Man was the world's greatest defender and a charming father. However, where Omni-Man was concerned, the world was his playground to roll out his Viltrumite campaign of planetary conquest. When Mark realized the dark truth of Omni-Man's violent Viltrumite crusade , a historic battle ensued, resulting in Invincible being beaten to a pulp and the world's ideal of the great superhero being tarnished. This set up a complex web of interplanetary politics, overarching fears for the end of Earth, and the restoration of the fragile world Omni-Man left behind. By the end of Invincible season 1 , almost everyone was befuddled by the battle between the two titans, but in lieu of wondering about Omni-Man's fate, the world focused on healing and rebuilding. Despite this, Invincible 's season 2 premiere gives more insight into what the world believes happened to Omni-Man. While it's not explicitly stated in Invincible season 2, the general population seems to assume that Invincible was able to neutralize the threat of Omni-Man. Season 2 sees the world — more specifically Chicago — cope with the devastation that the Omni-Man and Invincible fight left behind in Invincible 's season 1 finale. Invincible season 2 frames Omni-Man in a negative light from the perspective of the universe's civilians, and as Invincible is shown tentatively returning to a life of fighting crime with no objections from the public, it can be assumed that the world has sided with their savior and believed him to have subdued Omni-Man. This assumption is supported by the conversations Mark has with his girlfriend Amber and his fellow Guardians of the Globe team member Atom Eve. Amber consoles the dejected Mark, who has not only lost the father he believed he had but has been feeling guilt for the lives lost in the destruction of their fight.

During the times he presents himself as a omniman invincible and pragmatic warrior, he often betrays uneasiness with his actions.

Nolan : Why? Why do I care about them? They were weak, short-lived, barely a species. They shouldn't matter to me. Mark : That doesn't mean they should die. Nolan : You don't understand! I'm not supposed to feel this way!
