The original Gippsland Football Association was formed inafter a meeting of club delegates from the towns of Hazelwood, Morwell, Rosedale, Thorpdale, Traralgon, and Yarram.
Each senior club fields Seniors, Reserves and Under 17 and a half. Each club currently has a Seniors, Reserves and Thirds football teams. There are 44 teams across all divisions and More than registered participants. It is the only junior football competition in South Gippsland. The Blues travelled through the season undefeated, scoring a total of goals in their 18 matches with the side set to meet the winner of Saturdays qualifying final. Sitting in the top five for the majority of the season, perched in fourth position Saturdays result was an agonising one for Bombers supporters as TTU watched their chances of making finals slip from their grasp. North Gippsland football finalist Cowwarr and TTU will meet on the eve of finals in the concluding round of the home and away fixture. TTU moved back into the top five following a classic three goal victory over fellow top five aspirants Glengarry,47 to 50,. Gormandale recorded a 43 goal victory in their final home and away hit out ahead of finals. The stage was set for an enthralling contest, with the visitors setting the tone early as they burst out of the blocks boasting 13 scoring shots to five in a damaging opening term which saw them kick six goals to three. While two weeks remain before the opening of North Gippsland Football League finals series, the make-up of the top five still remains a mystery as the competitions front runners look to firm their hold on a finals berth. With four clubs in the hunt for the final two places in the five, the competition has never been so rife with spectators to be treated to a number of classic contests with the race on to see who will contest the elimination final in a 14 days time. In a high scoring contest the rain failed to halt the run of the TTU Bombers who moved back inside the top five with a comprehensive 89 to 47 goal victory over Woodside. Sale City continued their impressive form which has seen the side move into second position at the expense of Glengarry following their 40 to 29 win over Stratford. The match was evenly placed at the first change both sides desperation at the ball evident with the Kangaroos taking a two goal lead into the first change of ends. The competitions top seven sides will be aiming to create their own premiership glories come the middle of September, with the rampaging reigning premiers Sale City confirming their hold on flag favouritism each week. Sale City continued their dominance against the competitions top ranked sides with the Dogs accounting for second placed Glengarry in the match of the round.

June 17, updated July 14, Well if you did not know it is winter you probably do now. WOW, some tough days have brought the weather temperatures down dramatically and our football grounds will be starting to feel a bit heavy. It is sometimes hard to stay motivated when the days are short and the weather a bit crappy but I always like to think about the fact we are not alone and that it will not be long and Spring will be upon us and the smell of finals in the air. So dig deep over the next few weeks and hopefully the worst will be behind us and the days will be getting longer. A few weeks ago I wrote and talked about the lack of on-field reportable offences and commended all clubs and players for their actions and behaviour. However, it seems like as we approach the shortest day of the year so has the mood and behaviour on our grounds with several recent reports together with one independent investigation in the process of exploratory interviews and information gathering to enable a recommendation to the Board.
