After the gasket was replaced first time I asked for the stat to be replaced and water pump might as well whilst it was apart. This time they are using a genuine gasket so fingers crossed.. In order to prevent this happening again I am thinking about modifying the stat by drilling a few holes thus allowing a small amount of cooling all the time.
