The protagonist must battle an astonishing variety of terrifying, vicious, and memorable villains and monsters ranging from nightmarish Apostles to the armies of the Kushan Empire to unique foes such as Griffith and Father Mozgus. Nearly every anime fan knows what makes Griffith such a compelling villain, but fans might be underestimating other Berserk foes such as Father Mozgus along the way. Even if Mozgus only appeared in one story arc in Berserk , he cast a long shadow over that arc and proved to be a more than worthy foe for Guts to face in that phase of Berserk's storyline. When Mozgus first appeared, he said and did many things to quickly and brutally establish what he was really like. His rage, zealotry, merciless nature, and scary charisma were all on full display, and Berserk fans never forgot it.

He has the utmost faith in his God and the Holy See's ways, which helps throw Farnese's inner doubts into sharp relief. He is firstly seen as a washing-stone which resembles his face used by Farnese.
