Coming back to this forum for the first time since I was like, 15 8 years! As a precept to some larger theories, I just wanted to start off with this: how in the world does Princess Zelda seemingly know who Midna is? Midna knowing who Zelda is is simple, she's a woman locked in a tower -- but the former knowing the latter? It's part of the whole vibe of that initial meeting. Well, if Midna was traveling through Hyrule searching for someone who could help her fight Zant, it makes sense that she would look to Hyrule Castle pretty quickly. Zelda wouldn't fight, since Zant was holding her people hostage, but they might reasonably have spoken with each other. If nothing else, she probably told Midna the same story she tells Link, about Zant's attack on Hyrule Castle. She may have also given Midna the locations of nearby towns, thus leading Midna to go toward Ordon, where she finds Link. Now that I think about it, yeah, this is entirely reasonable. Midna just deciding to go to some bum ranching village doesn't make sense otherwise lmao. Midna would have been looking for a way to overthrow Zant pretty much since he took over, she would be aware of the attack on Hyrule and that Zelda was taken prisoner and at that point it's a bit of an "enemy of my enemy" situation. They both want roughly the same thing so approaching Zelda as a potential ally is an obvious choice. Especially since Midna makes it clear she much prefers the Twilight to the light world so any animosity towards the Hylian royal family for banishing the Twili is presumably long gone. The fact that Zelda already had a plan in place, and Midna could help with it was an added bonus. I assume there was an earlier meeting between the two which we didn't get to see where they agreed to work together.
