The XBox The love child of Bill Gates and the Console world. Part two. As part of this drive, Microsoft have done a very clever thing, and released a joypad that can be used on both the PC and the XBox console. But, how does the pad fare on the PC — is it just a gimmick or is the pad truly a cross platform achievement? Suprisingly, yes.

The Xbox Controller is expertly designed, excellently ergonomic, and PC compatible, but should you cut the cords and go wireless? The controller's cable measures in at nine feet and has a breakaway component that keeps the console from falling if someone trips on the wire. In order to hook up four controllers the maximum allowed by the system , at least one has to be wireless. The Xbox Controller borrows many design elements from the Controller S. The left and right analog sticks and triggers, the control pad, and the face buttons are in the same spots, constructed rather similarly. The start and Back buttons have been moved to the center, flanking the new guide button, which allows access to your gamer card at any time. Removed from the older controller are the black and white buttons, which were awkwardly placed below the face buttons. Taking their place are the left and right bumpers, which make their home on the top of the controller in front of the triggers. The slight changes have resulted in a nearly perfect design; not only is the controller great for games, but you may just prefer the new layout for the backward-compatible Xbox1 titles, as the bumpers are better located than the black and white buttons. On the bottom of the controller is a headset input. You can plug in any headset with a 2. Compared to the wireless controller, this model is slightly lighter and less bulky due to the absence of a battery pack at the back of the controller.

At fifty bucks, the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller is one of the most controllers out there. Right now, it's also the best. It's currently available in only one color, and it accepts two AA batteries or a more environmentally friendly Xbox Rechargeable Battery Pack. The controller should last from 15 to 20 hours between recharging or replacing the battery.

Xbox Controller Review Remember the first Xbox controller? This one is better. Way better. By Gerry Block. The original Xbox controller was an abomination. Huge, ugly, cheap, and uncomfortable, the overall design begged users to question what Microsoft was smoking. Slippery thumb sticks, vertically why!? Compared to Sony's Dualshock 1 and 2, the experience of picking up the original Xbox controller felt like playing with Duplo blocks instead of Legos. And as if Microsoft didn't have enough to worry about in terms of breaking into the Japanese market, they went and made a controller that could only look proportional in the hands of John Wayne. Then and now.

Please sign in to provide feedback. The comfort, ease of use, and feature-rich experience it brings to PC gaming speaks for itself, and it's really like playing the games for the first time again. The force feedback is strong but not quite as strong as the wired controller's. Also your chatpads, microphones etc will all work with this as they normally - tested this as well. The comfortability of the controller allows gamers to play without hand fatigue for long sessions. The Microsoft Xbox Wireless controller may be the most expensive first-party controller ever, but it's easily the best, too. Once you download the software from Microsoft's official site , the controller will work with any controller-compatible game. This wireless controller works great, and I love the flexibility of moving around a room without needing to pull a cord with me all the time. However, I have severe doubts that the battery pack is OEM. Battlefield 3 will pick it up without any key binding set-up at all as well. Overall, Mircosoft have released something special, a pad that works as well on the PC as well as the console it was designed for, and indeed, the XBox pad stands proud on its merits purely on its own as a fine reccomendation to those looking for a gamepad for use on the PC. Added to. This is thanks in part to the drivers. I'm very glad to say that the xbone d-pad bares absolutely no resemblance to the original at all. Despite the fact that the wireless models carry two AA batteries, the controller sits neutrally in one's hands, with no proclivity towards a forward lean that some other wireless controllers suffer for.
