So keep that in mind. My Dad, always the seafood critic, was quite impressed with his meal. My Mom ordered the fish cake breakfast, which came with fried eggs, baked beans, chow chow and toast. I will be coming back to investigate these further…. Well, it was heavy. The Hollandaise was just so thick and plentiful, quite lemony and just.. The ham was thick-cut, grilled home-style ham, but not particularly flavourful. I asked for runny eggs but they were medium. We ordered 4 meals this afternoon and 3 of them were righteous. Truly an amazing menu option.

The steak is thin, typical pub-style steak, mic mac tavern, but seasoned well and cooked expertly. Under the ribs is a mountain of handcut fries increasingly hard to find elsewherecooked perfectly.

Carpet worn threadbare from countless pairs of shoes treading over it, tables wiped with a lick and a promise because the turnover is so high, there's no time to shine the old wood. There's an old number board on one wall, which once used to indicate when meals were ready for pick-up, and it's a place where women bring the food and men take the drink orders, old school. A creaky set of steps goes up half a level to a long bar and the former smoking area.
