One For All is an incredibly powerful and special quirk that has been passed down by various people in the world of My Hero Academia. Just like the quirk One For All itself, the many users of this power are special. One For All is a quirk that was created after All For One passed on a power stockpiling quirk to his brother. However, his brother already had a quirk. Just like him, quite a lot of the other users of the One For All also had a quirk of their own. While these quirks were certainly not as strong as the One For All, they possess incredible power that has, over time, grown stronger and now aids Deku in battle. Quirk Bestowal was certainly the weakest quirk that any One For All user possessed and this power belonged to Yoichi, the first user of the One For All. Essentially, he only had the power to pass on a quirk from one user to another. Given that he didn't have anything else, all he could do was pass on this quirk to someone else. However, when All For One gave him the ability to stockpile power , it fused with Quirk Bestowal and ended up creating One For All, which is one of the strongest quirks ever. Gearshift is an incredible ability that allows the user to shift the speed of any object that he touches, even managing to ignore the laws of inertia. The user can change their speeds up to four times, with the fourth being the top gear. The original user of this quirk was Kudo , who led a resistance against All For One at one point.

His ultimate goal was to steal One For All , the Quirk that originally belonged to his younger twin brother , the only Quirk that can oppose him. He was the mentor of Tomura Shigaraki , having spent the young villain's life shaping him into a successor, and a vessel for his power in a plan to eventually conquer the world as a self-proclaimed "demon lord". He was imprisoned in Tartarus after his second defeat at All Might's hands until he escaped several months later, single-mindedly focused on destroying the ninth wielder of One For All, Izuku Midoriya , to complete his century-long plan.

The Shigaraki brothers were born to a sex worker who wasn't even aware of her pregnancy for the first eight months. She died in childbirth by a riverbank, as a result of the twins sapping away her life force, with the older brother in particular consuming most of the nutrients, leaving very little for his younger brother. This was the era before Meta Abilities were known, with the mother unknowingly possessing one which caused hardened growths to appear on her arm. Upon the twins birth, the older brother, who also happened to possesses a Meta Ability to steal other Meta Abilities , immediately stole the mother's Meta Ability, Spearlike Bones , for himself while devouring the body and holding his younger brother's arm. Just as rats came to gnaw on the newborns and their mother's corpse, they were washed away by the flood.

There appear to be two major reasons why All For One's civilian identity is still shrouded in mystery beyond his Shigaraki family name. In both his fights with Star and Stripe and Armoured All Might, the concept of a genuine Heroic Sacrifice with no benefit to your wellbeing completely blindsides him, resulting in him showcasing a horrified reaction to his enemies' unorthodox tactics to take him down at any cost. Those who were unsuitable for that were put to use as either minions or materials for his Nomu experiments. After being inspired by the Demon Lord in comic books, with how the fictional evil being reigned supreme and ruled through fear, he soon came to dream of a world that would submit to him, leading him down his evil path. All For One claims it's Izuku's turn as he vows to crush the young hero's spirit. His desire to be an absolute villain Hated by All meant that, despite him lording his past success as the Shadow Dictator of Japan as either intimidation against his enemies or incentive for others to cooperate with him, when he actually lost to All Might, nobody wanted to remember him and his vile actions, resulting in him effectively becoming a faceless nobody by the present day. The audience learns well before All For One himself that Shigaraki finally took his body back thanks to Midoriya and company's efforts on top of Shigaraki being much harder to bury than All For One believed.

He in turn also exploits the state of his body as an excuse to test out extremely useful but potentially dangerous Quirks through it, before risking letting his 'Next Me' use them, such as Eri's Rewind Quirk to compensate for his lack of a Healing Factor , though he implies he fully expects it to still be fatal. He also exemplifies other key villainous characteristics, such as a god-like complex, high intelligence, and a lack of empathy. Due to the horrible injuries All Might inflicted, he is severely limited in how much power he can output and how much damage he can take. Dented Iron : As unbelievably powerful as he is now, the injuries that All Might inflicted on him means he's nowhere near as powerful as he used to be. Class B: Conclusion! It takes out several pro heroes in seconds. Furthermore, All For One saw individuals as possessions, including his younger brother, Yoichi. Hawks questions why, after so many years of chasing down One For All, All For One would not deeply resent the users to that great of an extent, and theorizes that this was because something was missing in his soul, pointing out how he always smiled. When fighting Bakugo, the vestige of All For One starts getting reminded of the Second, making him uncharacteristically angry.
