You may visit an inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center, which is operated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Monday through Sunday from am to noon and from pm to pm. Because the MDC's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the MDC before visiting. You can reach an officer at the MDC at any time by calling Inmates are permitted only one visit per day for 15 minutes. One 1 adult and one 1 child may visit at one time. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen may visit at any time for as long as they like. During booking, the person being held in the MDC, "the arrestee" , may make an unlimited number of free telephone calls. Once housed, inmates may make unlimited collect calls. Since arrestees will be housed at the MDC for no more than 48 hours, not including holidays and weekends, you should not attempt to send mail to an inmate at the MDC.
