Junior Associates will participate at the faculty level in the full spectrum of the curriculum for the medical students and surgical residents. A scholarly activity component is anticipated under the direction of the Program Chief. In addition, specific funding is anticipated in support of CME activities for maintenance of a license to practice and in preparation for the Qualifying and Certifying examinations of the American Board of Surgery. The basic clinical experience is planned to be in Acute Care, Trauma, and General Surgery with the understanding that additional supervised experiences will be available in Bariatric, Pediatric, Plastic, Robotic, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery. The Junior Associate will participate in on-call coverage for the Trauma and Acute Care service as well as serving as a consultant in the overall General Surgery service. The Junior Associate will serve on training services at the Attending Faculty level. Six assessments of each type will be required from the program in which the Junior Associate has trained. Ongoing mentoring will be in conjunction with the plans of the Junior Associate for either clinical practice, additional sub-specialty fellowship or both.
