Are you worried about your computer's temperature? Excessive heat can affect your device's performance and your hard drive's lifespan. But how can you tell if it's overheating or just hot? What is a good temperature for your CPU? And what are the signs you should look out for that indicate that your PC is too hot? Heat is a natural by-product of electricity.

To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Page content loaded. Jul 28, PM in response to ARocks This Intel representative claims:. That sounds about right, but I have not been able to locate a conclusive reference. Jul 28, PM in response to John Galt. It varies by the processor, but intel notes thermal limits for each processor on the website. As you said, though, this does not necessarily mean the CPU will shutdown:. Thermal management for notebook processors. Whats the thermal shutdown point? Sign in. Sign in Sign in corporate.

Is my cpu overheating? I am only using a stock cooler that came with my old ryzen 7 x. I do have another cooler coming in now, but is my cpu going to be damaged now and also is my cpu running at an avg. Are you running any OC? This will prevent the clocks from boosting and hopefully stop Shutting down.
Because, ultimately, every processor is built to run at slightly different temperature ranges. And, there is really not a one-size-fits-all approach to determing normal CPU temperature ranges. If you are looking for a quick answer, we have attempted to give you a one-size-fits-all answer below. But, just know that it will never be a great way to determine whether or not your CPU temps are too high or not. Again, there is no way to give you an accurate one-size-fits-all answer to whether or not your CPU temperatures are too high or not. So, in other words, if your CPU is hitting those temperatures on a regular basis, you will likely want to dive into the problem further and see what is going on. Again, this is a generalization. And, the temperature shown in your BIOS will always be a bit higher reading than what it will be when the system is idling in Windows , because BIOS will always boot your processor using higher voltage levels in order to make sure that it will initialize. There are quite a few different programs out there that will let you monitor your CPU temperatures and some will monitor the temperature on your other components, too.

However, like any diligent worker, a CPU generates heat as it processes data, and managing this heat is essential for ensuring top-notch performance. Below we will discuss what makes a CPU hot, how hot it can get before shutting down, how long it can sustain peak performance, the ideal temperature range for sustained excellence, methods to keep your CPU cooler, and answer frequently asked questions. The journey to understanding CPU temperature begins with grasping what causes it to heat up. CPUs are composed of millions, even billions, of tiny transistors that switch on and off to perform calculations.

Yeah I would definitely suggest that you try to solve the problem instead of raising the limit. Anything under 60 degrees C degrees F is perfect. I am not sure if this is correct? It may not display this or other websites correctly. Replies 2 Views In response to elstaci. Thanks for your input. Replies 6 Views Did it just recently start crashing? Sign in to comment.
Just like our bodies, the CPUs have a temperature range where they function optimally. Exceeding that temperature can damage your CPU the same as fever does to your body. But what temperature makes your PC turn off?
Obviously, this is especially something to watch out for in the summer. Sorry, something went wrong. These would make your PC run hotter and potentially damage your hardware too. Search Advanced…. Active cooling should happen first, then CPU throttling, and then a thermal shutdown. Linked 1. They're explaining that the chip may lose performance on their reference software if it reaches this temperature, not that any software running has to implement this. Probably VRM issue, need short term solution. Ask a question Reset. When the OS shuts down at least when calling shutdown -h now , one of two things will happen:. It's unclear what the "reference software" is in this case, but it's almost certainly the Rockchip Linux branch.
I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. Write to me in PM, we will communicate.
