Machinarium walkthrough

This walkthrough will be as spoiler-free as possible in case you are using it as a reference-guide for when you become stuck.

Knights of the Old Republic 2. The Curse of Monkey Island. Machinarium by Amanita Design is a puzzle adventure game first released in The story focuses on one lone robot, Josef, who is dumped on a scrapheap and needs to be reassembled. Josef is discovered and locked up but manages to escape. Along the way Josef will find his lost love, Berta, who has also been captured and forced to work in a kitchen.

Click the bathtub twice, then click on your head. Drag yourself up to increase your height, then take the doll. Give this doll to the mole robot, who will give you another leg. Now walk across and pick up the magnet and the wire from the large spool, and combine these two items in your inventory. Head right. Pick up the top traffic cone, then pick up all the others to discard them. Take the blue paint that is revealed, and pour this into the large tub of white paint. Now dip the traffic bone in the light blue paint. Climb up the lamp post, and when you can't go any higher, pull out the bottom rung. Put this in the hole above you and climb up again. Continue this until you reach the top. Now make yourself taller, and take the light bulb.

Quickly take the bullets from the table. Ignore the door on the tower for now, and continue up another flight of stairs.

This game is beautifully designed and is much like the other puzzle games by Amanita Design such as Samorost 3 and Botanicula.

I've found some of the puzzles can be a little buggy, so it's good to have a recent save to load if things go awry. The lift puzzle below bugged- out on me when I tried to reset it, for example, as did moving the oil canister in the water. Walk to the right of the red boxes a1 and push them to the left.

Talk to the robot, who wants a cigarette. Go over to the bicycle machine and pedal until machine 1 powers up. Prison Prison Cell Talk to the robot, who wants a cigarette. Return left and give the dog to the pink robot in exchange for her umbrella. Go and look at the control panel on the far right wall - solve all 6 light puzzles, which involve turning the whole grid either red or yellow. Attach the chandelier to the vacuum and then to the toilet. Now take the moss from the right, and turn the tap twice then pick it up. Now make yourself taller, and take the light bulb. Talk to the fan and keep answering its riddles incorrectly until it gets very angry. Pick up the plant the old lady throws down at you.

The genre has had peaks and troughs since but is still in rude health today. Machinarium is a great example of the genre, mixing beautiful art, charming characters, and tricky puzzles. Read on for part three of my full Machinarium walkthrough.
