Last year Lure of the North announced that they were sadly closing their retail store much to the dismay of many people. Their line of winter camping gear was not only unique, but well made and offered people a chance to have a hands-on experience. Fast forward a year later, and Lure of the North shared some exciting news…. We are so incredibly excited to let you know that the LOTN product line will continue on! We have officially sold the retail arm of our business to Jeff and Laura from Sudbury! They will be re-launching on our website for the first season to help get them off the ground running. They will be open for pre-orders with a delivery date in the early new year!

Their workshops, courses, and guided expeditions focused on essential crafting, winter travel, and survival skills have provided knowledge and experience to countless people. Our friend Justin Barbour is about to set out on his longest expedition yet, a solo, year-long trek across northern Quebec, Labrador, and Newfoundland - Expedition Northeast. Justin's beautifully-documented travels through some of the most remote places in eastern Canada give us a close-up view of the trials and tribulations of solo travel through the boreal forest. Even if you can't get out on expeditions, crossing rugged terrain for weeks at a time, there's still plenty of fun adventures to be had close to home with the family! While they are fantastic courses, we think that we will be better off to change the format in a way that attracts more people to experience it.
