Lumix or canon

In my view, lumix or canon, the high-end Leica was Panasonic gearing up for a full frame mirrorless camera of their own. They have been in mirrorless longer than anyone. Canon have not been serious the whole time. Neither have Nikon until now.

Panasonic has had much more experience building mirrorless cameras, however, having essentially founded the modern mirrorless era in with the Lumix G1. So which company made the better first-generation camera? Looking at the spec sheet, the Lumix S1 stands out in some key areas, but it can be hard to determine a true winner. Of course, how much of that is noticeable in the real world is debatable and depends on the scene, but the S1 sensor is capable of delivering the best of both worlds between sensitivity and resolution, putting it ahead of the Canon here. When it comes to continuous shooting performance, both the Canon and the Lumix are pretty even and are limited in similar ways, but the S1 has a slight edge. Both with and without continuous autofocus, the S1 performs 1 frame per second faster than the EOS R. It can hit a maximum of 9 fps, or 6 with continuous AF, while the Canon tops out at 8 fps, or 5 with continuous AF.

Both bodies were fitted with their respective kit zooms set to f5. The G7 was fitted with the Lumix G mm f3. The higher resolution of the Canon means its crops show a slightly smaller area. The Canon results are in the left column and the Lumix G7 crops are in the right column. Scroll down for my noise comparison. Auto contrast adjustments on both were disabled. Both bodies were fitted with their respective kit zooms, adjusted to deliver the same vertical field-of-view; as such the Canon is effectively being compared as a Both cameras were set to f5. At first glance of the in-camera JPEGs, the two most obvious differences are the white balance and crop size, the latter being a little tighter on the Canon due to its higher resolution. The absence of noise reduction coupled with strong sharpening means any noise is brought to the forefront, but it allows us to better see what signal each camera has to work with. Normally beyond ISO is where larger sensors begin to take a lead over Micro Four Thirds, but judging from the results below I think the Canon is actually exhibiting fractionally higher noise levels, especially in terms of chroma noise. The important messages to take home from my results pages are that the kit zooms play a big role in ultimate quality and that the smaller Micro Four Thirds sensor in the Lumix G7 can better keep up with the APS-C sensors in both resolution and noise than you might first assume. Next check out my sample images or skip back to my verdict.

Size 8. I think the Nikon 4K codec, their own sensor and Flat profile produce an all-round great image which is really special. It's fair to suggest that both will break the bank for most, lumix or canon, but these are high-end cameras for the most demanding photographic assignments with plenty of features to justify their costs.

If you want to watch the video go here! Hi, this is Jay P. Canon vs Panasonic. Some new things here on the R6 II, 1. Over to the computer we go. The Panasonic color is just so beautiful. The skin tones look wonderful.

In this post, we will try to settle once and for all if Lumix is better than Canon or vice versa based on sales data and actual usage by the community. Matching the camera specifications to your use case is going to be the most important thing, and picking a certain brand is rarely important. The number of units sold and market share is a good indicator of the quality of a brand because it shows that consumers trust the products of a given brand. Looking at , there is data gathered by Techno Research Systems which was released through Nikkei Asia. You can see some of this data via mirrorless rumours. As you can see Canon reigns supreme with a massive

Perhaps more importantly, the S1 has a larger image buffer that can hold 75 RAW files based on our testing. Thanks to its high-speed XQD card, the S1 will also be faster to write those images from the buffer to the memory card, limiting downtime between high speed bursts.

The Panasonic S5 II is not looking near as busy. I do think the Panasonic image is beautiful though. Thanks to some clever engineering, Panasonic has found a way to speed it up considerably — in the majority of situations, it is only negligibly slower than competing phase-detection systems. Leave some comments below. It has the feel of a gadget, not an artistic tool. I may have seen one of those on the Panasonic but it just seems like the Canon is just popping over to the side just a little bit. Very clear as she was coming. I feel like, for the most part, most of these are sharp. The EOS R also has a unique touch slider pictured above which can be programmed to control different camera settings. Very important, is that this hypothetical camera has autofocus and lenses as good as the Canon system. Panasonic Lumix S1 review. So I think the Canon edges out the Panasonic just barely when it comes to internal frame rates. So I built a little rig so I could do the image stabilization and have the two cameras on the same two hand rig. Normally beyond ISO is where larger sensors begin to take a lead over Micro Four Thirds, but judging from the results below I think the Canon is actually exhibiting fractionally higher noise levels, especially in terms of chroma noise. A lighter body, closer to a G9 or GH5.

In , Panasonic also entered into the L-Mount Alliance with Sigma and Leica to begin producing cameras using the latter's L-mount standard. Under this alliance, Panasonic has begun to produce full-frame cameras, though it continues to offer many MFT, bridge, and compact cameras to suit a variety of budgets and experience levels. We've bought and tested over cameras in our lab.

Scroll down for my noise comparison. So when it comes to autofocus, even though the R6 II has new autofocus, I think the Panasonic was right in there. I mean it looks sharp and right on. Some new things here on the R6 II, 1. If we go up here to ISO noise just continues to build. Both cameras have very impressive burst shooting capabilities, but the Canon comes out on top with its 12fps shooting speed using its mechanical shutter. Previous Next. In fact looking at the leaks, it does not top Fujifilm or Nikon either, both of whom are now offering 10bit LOG. I think the Canon is a great step forward in their autofocus and in this new sensor, it is a beautiful image. But it helps you with workflow purposes. It also has an absolutely gorgeous EVF, dual memory cards, and expertly designed control layout that is built to hold up to professional use. He has used and reviewed practically every interchangeable lens camera launched in the past 20 years, from entry-level DSLRs to medium format cameras, together with lenses, tripods, gimbals, light meters, camera bags and more.
