They use the resources available in their networks to encourage other Peruvians study in Brazil, which gives them an important role in student migration chain thus constituted, different and complementary to that played by official institutions. This paper is based on ethnographic work conducted in and , supported by a literature search and interviews with Peruvians who studied in Rio de Janeiro. Although Peru and Brazil are neighboring countries, connection between them has been very sparse. Over the following decades, relations between them had been very punctual, demonstrating little integration.
