Lone goat gallery
Lone Goat Gallery is a contemporary lone goat gallery space, lone goat gallery, presenting emerging and established artists from the Northern Rivers region and beyond. Located in the Byron Bay Library building in downtown Byron Bay, just a short walk from Main Beach — a quiet cultural haven among the hubbub of town. Lone Goat Gallery presents a fantastic program of exhibitions, artists talks and workshops, with a program that reflects the diverse array of visual arts in the Northern Rivers and further afield.
What gallery improvements has this funding enabled you to complete? Thank you! Lone Goat Gallery was established as a not-for-profit community gallery in a re-purposed conference room in , and was lacking a lot of standard gallery fittings and equipment. The funding has allowed us to create improvements to all aspects of the operation, from gallery presentation and equipment for the use of artists, to back of house administration, and improved public presence and visibility. The fit out has involved local electricians, plumbers, carpenters, builders, plasterers, painters, signage design, concrete polishers, lighting, furniture makers and equipment suppliers. We closed the gallery for four weeks in May to take care of most of the dirty work.

Each sculpture endeavours to capture the essence of these facets from a different perspective and timeline. Using a blend of hand-knitting techniques and materials, my sculptures emerge as compositions that bridge the gap between the Traditional and Contemporary. The wire, knitted by hand, not only forms the intricate structure of each piece but also symbolises the interconnectedness and resilience inherent in the Australian environment. Each sculpture becomes a visual narrative, inviting viewers to explore the relationship between traditional craft and contemporary expression. The juxtaposition of hand-knitted wire with the diverse textures and forms of the Australian landscape becomes a metaphor for the evolving dialogue between nature and human creativity. By incorporating contemporary materials, I aim to redefine the boundaries of traditional techniques, infusing new life into the storytelling process. The sculptures, in essence, become a chronicle of the ever-changing Australian landscape and the ongoing dialogue between heritage and innovation. I aspire to invite contemplation, connection, and a renewed appreciation for the multifaceted beauty that defines the Australian experience. Within this collection, clay takes on a pivotal role, embodying the essence of the rich earth.

I also live here in the beautiful Byron Shire. Learning the culture from my Nan, Elder Dulcie Nicholls, I began painting at thirteen after she showed and taught me all things about country and what it has for us. How to take and give back to the motherland. I have since been in several successful exhibitions across the Byron Shire. Painting is a strong part of me, it shows me how to tell a story through an expressive form. My passion, technique and style has grown as I have. Which I hope shows through in my artwork. It is an important part of my life and identity and an expressive means for me to share the knowledge and dreamtime of my people.

What we do As the peak arts organisation for our region we deliver services and projects that foster artistic innovation and excellence and work to ensure access and engagement with arts and cultural activity. To keep the information we share relevant it would help to know a few key things about you we promise this is for our eyes only. They offer private door to door airport transfers as well as catering to more streamlined transport needs. It would always be great to see more ambitious state and federal funding in the region, and many of the organisations mentioned above are achieving terrific programs on threadbare budgets, but could achieve so much more and create increased employment with some financial assistance. Related Activities. We added minimal skirting boards throughout to replace aluminium skirting that had looked very corporate. A flow on from that is a significant increase in artist-run and temporary projects around Lismore. Falls Festival and Splendour in the Grass are both running artist residencies, and Craig Walsh has run a terrific program for some years at Splendour. We have a few surprises in the calendar too! Back of house we have added a glasswasher for exhibition openings, shelving for storage and simple installation equipment. My grandmother's country from the Rainforest to the sea including the rivers, sacred sites, our creator and home Ironbark at Tallow Creek. This body of work showcases aspects of Arakwal country in the Byron Shire through the perspective of Nickolla Clark a local Arakwal Bundjalung artist living and working on Country.
We have chosen to feature solo shows predominantly in the program, as a method of providing deep professional development for local artists. This will improve our public visibility substantially. I would love to have more space to run a larger program. There is no doubt that the broader Northern Rivers arts scene has seen substantial growth recently. There is terrific depth to the local scene. We lifted the carpet tiles and there was a perfect concrete slab underneath, which we polished. It would always be great to see more ambitious state and federal funding in the region, and many of the organisations mentioned above are achieving terrific programs on threadbare budgets, but could achieve so much more and create increased employment with some financial assistance. The exhibitions program at their Project Space is significant for providing a critical space showing high calibre exhibitions by locals and artists from across the country. We started the refit by stripping back unnecessary fittings to create a more minimal environment and remove distractions and interrupted wall space. Northern Rivers Creative has arrived right on time and provides a much-needed online Directory for local artists. What gallery improvements has this funding enabled you to complete? The next stage of the fit out will include computers, printer and hard drives for administration, and two LED screens, audio speakers and headphones for the gallery enabling presentation of digital and screen-based art.
It is a pity, that now I can not express - it is very occupied. I will be released - I will necessarily express the opinion.
