In this book, I will be writing about some characters from The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals, that I feel are often underrated and underappreciated when it comes to fandoms and fanfictions.

Olivia "Liv" Parker was a major recurring character in the fifth and sixth seasons of The Vampire Diaries. She was a witch of the Gemini Coven and the twin sister of the late Luke Parker. Liv was also the younger sister of Josette Parker , Malachai Parker , Joey Parker, and three deceased unnamed siblings. She was also the youngest daughter of Joshua Parker. She was introduced as an inexperienced witch and sought out Bonnie Bennett to help her.

In Home , after Caroline Forbes snaps Luke's neck sending him to The Other Side , Liv was forced to perform a spell that allows the deceased to be resurrected. Luke was revived and, as Liv got weaker, he told her to stop the spell. She carefully watched over Tyler, doing everything to make sure his werewolf gene doesn't trigger. In Fade Into You , Liv and Luke are reunited with their long-lost sister Jo and they reveal that, as the twin children of the Gemini Coven's leader, they must merge their powers on their twenty-second birthday and the stronger of the two will survive more powerful than ever while the weaker will die. In the season 6 finale, Liv was killed by Tyler with her permission and request so that he could trigger his werewolf gene in order to heal his wounds caused by Kai.

This is the relationship between the twin witches Lucas Parker and Olivia Parker. They were shown to be close twins working together to fight against The Travelers in Season Five. They succeeded in helping the Mystic Falls gang to get rid of the Travelers, but they each lost someone they cared about. They are members of the Parker Family. Unfortunately, in the end, they both were killed due to Kai's return from his Prison World. They were born in Portland, Oregon as the youngest of eight siblings and the second set of twins. Their parents kept on having children until another set of twins were born due to the prophecy that only a twin can lead the coven. As children, their older brother, Kai Parker , tried to kill them, however, they were saved by their sister, Jo. In While You Were Sleeping , while Liv is shown not to be a newbie by lighting all the candles in the room with a single gesture Luke is lying on the bed and tells her she should proceed with their plans regards to The Travelers , thus revealing their real reason for being in Mystic Falls. The two are helped by Bonnie that interferes with Enzo's plans.

Listen up, Mystic Falls devotees: there's a new witch in town on The Vampire Diaries , and she's more powerful than Bonnie Bennett and possibly even sassier than the late Katherine Pierce. Liv Parker is one of the best new characters that The Vampire Diaries has introduced in a long time, and I'm very glad that we have a new lady on the show who throws out snarky lines and powerful spells. She's a badass witch with great hair and is one of the few new characters that I don't find disposable. Please, oh please, Julie Plec, let this one survive the Season 5 finale. So who is the woman behind this witch? Newcomer Penelope Mitchell is an Australian actress who is making her splash in the US via not one but two supernatural dramas. Spoiler alert: things didn't, err, "work out" too well for her Hemlock Grove character, which, thankfully, freed Mitchell up to take on her new role on The CW's supernatural soap.
