However, when the firecrackers lit by the fireflies hit him, she laughs, which causes her to snort like a pig, which Ling thought was cute. Her favorite thing to do is gathering food from the trees and she likes to spend time with Chien-Po who likes food also. He is also sarcastic, referring to Li Shang as "pretty boy" and teasing his macho demeanor. He rushes off to stop the marriage and, with the help of Mushu, Mulan and Shang wed.

After Shan Yu is terminated, the emperor comes down the steps and, though he sternly reprimands Mulan for impersonating a soldier, he then thanks her for saving their beloved country. When Mulan tries to warn Shang that the Huns survived, he doesn't believe her, so she tells the the trio to keep their eyes open for the Huns. In gratitude, he takes off his crest and puts it on her neck and gives Shan Yu's sword to her as tokens for her efforts, the crest representing what she did for him while the sword represents what she did for China.
