Yesterday I reviewed Art Quilts Unfolding: 50 Years of Innovation libib library this was one of the first books that I added to my new studio library catalogue with Libib.

I recently wrote a post about how I sorted through, cataloged, and reorganized all of my books see here: link. Well, most of my books, at least. I had such fun with the cataloging part that I wanted to write an entire post about it. I looked online about how other readers catalog their books, and a lot of them are still doing it by hand, in Word or Excel documents. Backstory: many years ago, I heard about handheld devices that could read the ISBN bar codes from the backs of books and enter them into a computer database. It was a great idea, but so expensive!

Libib is a small org and home library cataloging app, that allows you to scan in your books, movies, music and video games. It works in concert with Libib's website, where you can tag, review, rate, import, make notes and publish your library! Includes a built-in high quality barcode scanner! I love buying books and adding them to my collection. I found Libib through a blog post by a book lover and decided to give it a try.

Just like Goodreads and LibraryThing , Libib offers users a way to simply catalog their home libraries for free. The two elements that make Libib rise above either of the previously mentioned tools is its design and ease of use. Personally, I found the look of Libib more appealing than either Goodreads or LibraryThing, and its simple interface makes adding books fast and easy. Libib really focuses on simplicity and ease of use. Scanning books into Libib with an app is quick and easy. I effortlessly scanned 6 books into Libib in about 1 minute. I just scanned the UPC code and they were added and I was prompted to add another or stop scanning.

This is the first step to begin cataloging your items. Here you can assign your public site URL which is the link you will use to share our collections with others. At the very top of the Publish page a your link is displayed. Use each of the tabs across the top of the Publish page to setup your theme, logo, lending settings, and announcement welcome message. But to each their own! It works in concert with libib. Also, sometimes the author names are missing or messed up, especially for edited books. I would definitely recommend Libib to anyone looking for a basic, free library organization app. So it also returns any books that mention that author in the description. We got Apps! I like the message you get that shows that the book was successfully scanned, and shows the cover of the book — great confirmation that it worked. How frustrating!
