Quick background on my car: IS - Manual Problem: The rear lights tail lights malfunction indicator on dashboard, yellow light, indicating a light bulb in one of the tail lights is out comes on whenever I start my car with the foot on the break. One foot on the clutch and one foot on the break. Put keys into ignition and start the car. Malfunction light comes on and stays on.

My 'tail light out' indicator slowly came on while driving during the day with lights off but none of the tail lights appear to be burned out. None of the other indication lights have come on though. Is this the early alternator failure warning system or just something in the tail light circuit? I had the same problem.
