Jevil is a Darkner from Card Kingdom. He is Chapter 1's bonus boss , and thus a holder of a Shadow Crystal. Jevil is a short, pudgy imp with a round gray face, elven ears, clown-like eyes with small yellow pupils and black sclerae, and a large smiling mouth with yellow, sharp teeth. He has a long, purple tongue which can be seen either when he laughs, or during some of his attacks. He has a purple tail shaped like a capital letter J. He is dressed in a purple shirt, black trousers, a black cape, green slippers, black socks, purple mittens, and a lime green and yellow jester's collar. He wears a purple and black harlequin jester hat with two small yellow bells.

Jevil is a non-player character and an optional boss in the first chapter of 'Deltarune'. To fight him is an optional choice that the player has and in no way affects the actual storyline. Despite this, Jevil has become one of the most famous characters of the game. Jevil is a combination of jester and devil, thus he has both characteristics. He is funny, and he fights against the player as well. He is in part called the joker due to the randomness that the joker card adds to a deck of cards. In light of this, Jester's appearance is shown to be similar to that of a clown. This is also the reason why Jevil says "metamorphosis". This line could also be a reference to a virtual sticker called Loose Clown that players can buy.

He was locked away by Seam , the first shopkeeper the player encounters in the game. Before the events of Deltarune , Jevil was the court jester of Card Castle and was friends with Seam, the court magician. They performed acts together for the kings until one day, Jevil came across a strange someone ; ever since Jevil met this person, he had descended into insanity.
