Wilbur Wilde is a name familiar to most of us and he was listing the benefits of the Jayco Swan as part of his promotional role with Jayco. As per my newbie intro the other day, wife and I are purchasing a Swan Outback sometime after Xmas and I am wondering if there is any advice that owners of these pop tops can give greenhorns like us. We are looking at - model years, but may sneak up to a cheap if the price is near our budget. None of these are essential apart from the roof racks which will come in handy and the full annex but we are basically after the best Swan with as much fruit as we can get for the best price. I know we could rig up an external 12v hot water shower easily enough and also sort out a portable solar set up, battery etc, slide out external BBQ cooker etc. I was very impressed when I saw a post shortly after joining this forum when somebody had added their own slide out BBQ tray coming from where a factory job would be Can anyone advise on any problem areas that I should look for when buying a Late model - Swan Outback? Won't be able to reply to any replies today people as I am about to go fishing for some tasty Nerang river whiting Cheers Rob.

While today Jayco is perhaps best known for caravans, the company has an incredible track record and heritage cred when it comes to camper trailers. Since it has built literally thousands of them— and has an enviable market share, based upon meeting critical price points in the market. More on that later. Amongst the Jayco fleet are seven models of camper trailers, six of which display the archetypical Jayco trademark bedding arrangement which has them sliding out the ends and supported on props. At the upper end of this selection is the Swan, which weighs in at kg tare in its standard on-road format and kg in offroad trim. The Swan provides for two pull out beds, one at each end. Set the corner steadies, unlatch the sides and wind away on the inbuilt winch until the roof is raised, pull out the bed ends, set the supports and fly ends and assemble the entry door, the top section of which folds and clips to the ceiling. Arguably, you might get a better spread of light if it was mounted to the roof, although light output might also be a factor. Gee I really like that slide out aliminium tray that somebody posted on here and which pulls out from under the nose Will be a mixture of free camping and van parks. Jayco make no pretentions about their Outback range being all-conquering offroad campers. Fold it down and you have another double bed, so including the forward lounge up to 7 people could be accommodated overnight. For additional storage space a pantry folds up from the floor but has to be returned to its flat position when the roof is lowered for travelling. Ventilation is also as much or as little as you desire, and even with the windows zippered closed roof hatches allow a flow of air. Well done, who did you buy from? The kitchen runs along the driver side with storage and dining options kerbside and a full-width lounge butting up to the front bed. There's a big difference between kneeling down Hi Fellas, Glenm64 - you are right mate When you say after xmas, bare in mind most people dont sell their stuff until after school holidays or summers end. I figure the annex can stay out of the swan when not going to be used.

The Swan is one of the larger camper trailers in the Jayco range, measuring mm end to end and mm across its girth. This requires a little elbow grease at the crank handle inserted in the front, but a nifty do-it-yourself option that we saw one camper using was to make up another cranking bar with an old screwdriver end welded into the outer end and it went up and down via a cordless drill very neatly and quickly. Jayco make no pretentions about their Outback range being all-conquering offroad campers. What really happened to Viscount? Now it comes down perfectly as long as we latch down the side opposite the door first. All Jayco camper trailers are built on a sturdy hot dip galvanised frames — what they call their Endurance Chassis — with x 50mm RHS main chassis members and x 50mm RHS drawbar. Air con - can totally understand why this would be a huge benefit, especially in the tropics or indeed down south where it is cold when heating is needed. Our two weeks on the road endeared us to the Swan for its ease of use and compact design when driving. Middle of the day? The kitchen runs along the driver side with storage and dining options kerbside and a full-width lounge butting up to the front bed. Otherwise there is a large sink and draining board that provides some additional bench space when the sink is not in use and plenty of cupboards and drawers, the latter with catches. Just a thought. Also want the full annex, but don't need the spare rooms I don't think.
