Auburn Botanic Gardens is a must visit for families! There are large koi carp fish, beautiful ducks swimming and two small waterfalls. The layout is done well and children can feel like they are up close and personal with these native animals. The feeding times are 10am and 2pm on weekends. We usually see the keepers cleaning the enclosures when we go on a weekday morning and they are happy to answer questions.

The Japanese Garden in Auburn is exceptionally beautiful, especially when the cherry blossoms are blooming between mid-August and early September and when Auburn Botanic Gardens host their famous Cherry Blossom Festival. The beautiful Aviary is home to peacocks, swans and other native birds that wander freely around this area. Visit the garden on weekends at 10 am and 2 pm and you can watch the Fauna Keeper feeding the animals. We visited last year for the Cherry Blossom Festival and I was completely taken aback. Thankfully the parking is free so you can spend lots of time there. You can use public transport to get to the Auburn Botanical Garden by making your way to Auburn Train Station and from there the bus.
