To act as terdentate ligands, it was observed that both terpy and bppy must adopt the ciscis ligand configuration jameson js 609 opposed to the transtrans configuration found in the solid state and as the equilibrium configuration in solution. Both terpy and bppy distort upon co-ordination to ruthenium.

We aimed to determine if the type of clinical presentation in patients with faecal incontinence correlated with the underlying sphincter pathology. One hundred fifty one consecutive patients female with faecal incotinence were classified as having either passive faecal incontinence without the patient's knowledge or urge incontinence incontinence occuring with the patient's awareness, against their will because of lack of voluntary control , and were investigated by routine anorectal physiological testing and anal endosonography. Sixty six patients had passive incontinence PI only, 42 patients had urge incontinence UI only, 38 patients had combined passive and urge incontinence, and 5 patients had soiling after defaecation only. The clinical classification of faecal incontinence into passive and urge incontinence relates to specific patterns of abnormality of the internal and external anal sphincters. The aim of the study was to investigate whether estrogen receptors are present in the rectal mucosa of premenopausal women compared to post-menopausal women and men. Thirty biopsies obtained from the rectal mucosa at colonoscopy, performed to investigate inflammatory bowel disease in 23 patients and neoplasia in 7, were examined by the avidin-biotin-peroxidase immunohistochemical technique for the presence of estrogen receptors. None of the subjects had fecal incontinence or was taking medication with hormones. In no case did the primary lesion involve the specimen used for laboratory analysis. All samples showed negative immunostaining for estrogen receptors. It was concluded that in continent women and men, a direct estrogenic effect on the rectal mucosa seems unlikely.
