Stephen King is well-known for not always sticking the landings as they say. It is probably a big part of that. The film makes fun of that as well teasing writer Bill that no one likes his endings. Overall I have to say I enjoyed the film. Lots of positives. Then the present could have been about keeping them together mainly because the adult cast actually did have good chemistry and remembering the specific information they had forgotten about It and they could have done more of Derry because it felt very disconnected as well. Make him guilty about for all intense and purposes forgetting Georgie though that was more clear in the book but that extra bit the script stuck in just killed that for me. I have some minor nitpicks and the fucking flashing lights of the ending that drove me crazy but those are the big things that stood out to me. Okay Its ending might maybe be unfilmable but its like they half-assed it and that lead to more of a mess. The book might have been a cosmic mess but this was just a mediocre script.

Even as they walk away from the carnival, the thugs follow them and start to viciously assault them. They throw Adrian over the bridge and flee into the night. Anyone could make an argument that every King story takes place in the same multiverse , at the very least, even with the time loops of The Dark Tower and concepts like the Shining. Numerous flashbacks featuring the younger actors are sprinkled throughout. Most others found fame, fortune, and love. Everyone else lost all memory of Derry and It. The local Natives performed a ritual using a mystical jar to try and trap it by sacrificing personal artifacts of great value, which is why the entire middle part of the movie follows each individual Loser on a trip down memory lane to retrieve something of sentimental value. Game over, right? After the Ritual of Chud fails, all hope seems lost.

Mike finally leaves Derry, potentially to visit Florida like he talked about as a kid. The Losers get close enough to fight Pennywise, with Eddie managing to muster up the courage to strike Pennywise himself. Mike tells the Losers that they can kill Pennywise for good by performing an ancient ritual using artifacts from their childhood. Same with Eddie and the back and forth those two characters especially share. She invites Bev inside for tea and cookies as Bev looks around. It director unveils first look at prequel series. Dean has also seen Pennywise lately after Bill had mentioned it. Mike then pulls out a Native American artifact that he stole from the tribe, which is covered in markings that reveal the origins of It. Note: Contains spoilers for It Chapter Two. Mike knows that IT has returned. Ben gets an old yearbook page, in which Bev was the only one to write for him. A flashback shows that psychotic bully Henry Bowers Nicholas Hamilton survived being pushed down the well by Mike and had washed out of the sewers. Bill gets the bike and rides around his old street, passing the sewer where Georgie Jackson Robert Scott was taken.

Between unexpected deaths, surprising returns, and admittedly bizarre backstories that lean closer to science fiction than classic horror, next year's second and closing chapter to director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of King's epic novel IT is prime spoiler territory for anyone who hasn't read the novel or seen the original made-for-TV miniseries with Tim Curry. From the surface, the plot of IT seems relatively cut and dry. Kids in a small New England town do battle against a child-eating creature that lives in the sewers.

Instead, look back at the first trailer and in the montage of shots at the end, there's a very telling shot that's taken from near the end of the movie. Eric Francisco wrote a great essay about that Street Fighter scene. He is visited Pennywise in the form of a zombified Patrick Hockstetter Owen Teague , who presents Henry with his old knife. Stanley now played by Andy Bean is a partner in an accounting firm. They overcome their fears and fight back, but Pennywise fatally impales Eddie. A flashback shows that psychotic bully Henry Bowers Nicholas Hamilton survived being pushed down the well by Mike and had washed out of the sewers. Pennywise promises to make it go away, only to end up devouring Victoria. Continue reading. Richie goes to an old arcade he went to as a kid where he picks up a token as his artifact. Although the Losers think that they defeated It during the battle in the sewers in the first movie, the vision that Bev saw in the Deadlights of all of them back in the cistern as adults makes them wary enough to swear a blood oath that they will all come back to Derry if It ever returns. Lots of positives. I also think they were the best of the children I loved Sophia Lillis and Bev in the first film but Jessica Chastain gets nothing to do here and gets stuck working mainly with the weakest of the adult loser actors in Jay Ryan.
