Is tank traders worth it

There are supermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores and drug stores that have cages with pre-filled propane tanks out front.

It's been a long time since I have filled a 20lb propane tank. I am looking at buying a new tank because mine has expired. How much does it cost to refill the tank. What are people doing and why? Which Costco in Edmonton does refills and where do I goto get it.

In regard to 2 , the smaller exchangers may check your tank to determine if it is in date. That's why those exchanging expired tanks go to a larger retailer such as Walmart or RCSS where the employees don't care. There have been reports of automated exchange places but I haven't seen one. If you do buy a tank and exchange it, you may be getting one with shorter life.

Usually I just go to a gas station and swap it out but now I'm a Costco member and they are probably cheaper.
