This paper is sequel to the first paper on comparison of general detailing practice for reinforcement and prestressing cables between past and the present code of Indian Roads Congress IRC Covering Section 15 of IRC: This paper covers the comparison of detailing requirements for specific structural members as covered in Section 16 of IRC: and provisions on ductile detailing for seismic resistance as covered in Section 17 of IRC: The code is less prescriptive and offers greater choice of design and detailing methods with scientific reasoning. This new generation code, when used with full understanding, will bring benefits to all sectors of society, as it will eventually lead to safer construction and make a tangible contribution towards a sustainable society. The present situation in the industry is that most of the consulting offices are struggling to understand this code, which is not so user-friendly. Since the designer is hard pressed for time, the majority of consultants are unfortunately spending their valuable time only in fulfilling the prescribed rules of the code, acting as a technical lawyer, with very little understanding of the subject.

Tests should be conducted for each job periodically. For checking crushing of concrete compression strut V Ns shall be taken at the face of support. If concreting has to be done in hot weather at ambient temperatures exceeding these limits of concrete temperature, steps shall be taken to sufficiently lower the temperature of ingredients of the concrete below the ambient. Autogenous I shrinkage can be taken as a function of the concrete strength. Reversible Serviceability Limit States Serviceability limit states where no consequences of actions exceeding the specified service requirements will remain when the actions are removed. These effects include the distribution of internal forces and moments as well as stresses, strains, curvatures, rotations and displacements in static or dynamic modes. If the manufacturer is not finalised at the time of design, values based on experience shall be used and stated on the drawing or on stressing schedule to enable proper adjustments to be made at site. The requirements or exemptions are covered under relevant clauses of the Code dealing with such components. Refer Fig. AI-enhanced title. The area of surface reinforcement should not be less than 0. Where greater accuracy is required variation in the effective width along the spans should be considered. In doing so, it is possible that the classification relates to specific mechanisms of deterioration. Areas of exposed concrete on which water can stand or can drain across, are particularly at risk.
