Ipod nano 6th generation power button stuck
I will document what I did to fix it here. This article may also be useful for those looking to dismantle or fix their iPod Nano 6th Gen since most of the steps contained here will allow you to access all components of the device.
When I opened the iPod and reached the back side of the power button, it found the shim that actually presses the switch was held in place with double-side sticky tape. With use and probably with the help of high temperatures, the shim slides to the border of the button, away from the switch underneath. This is why the button no longer actuates the switch and does not give the tactile feedback, feeling loose or stuck. After removing the shim and the double tape, I cleaned the back button surface and the shim with acetone. The goo traces are very sticky but it is very important to remove every bit and leave the surfaces clean and dry. The fibers of the Pec-Pad cloth I used are clearly seen in the picture but are invisible to the naked eye :.

My iPod nano 6th gen has its power button stuck since 2 days ago. The disc should be only around 1. I have no idea why I bought it. Not a fix, but a workaround: 1 Remove the outer button and use the plug of the dongle to push the inner button to turn the ipod on or off 2 When the inner button falls off or stops working, remove it. You should find that you can now rotate the metal tab anti-clockwise to see the gold button surface mount component. You should be able to see the screen light up from the back side. It has been replaced and hasn't been repaired. The disc should be only around 1. Same problem, the power button stuck. I found and measured the small plastic bit. Then, I watched the Youtube video to learn about the other controls double click, triple click, etc. Unscrew the 2 right-most screws and store them on your magnet.
