This talented triple threat comprised of Shelly, Kathy Merrick and Wendy Smith-Brune performs original songs from their catalogue of chart-toppers and fan favorites along with hits from virtually every music genre. Honey cone band original member and cofounder of The Honey Cone, honey cone band, Shelly has an extensive and diverse career in the entertainment industry. Beginning as a beguiling child star, she exploded onto the New York scene as a gifted dancer, singer and actress. Born in Washington, DC, Kathy started her career at the tender age of eight in dance and musical theater.

They are known for their number-one Billboard Hot single, " Want Ads ". The trio each had previous professional singing experience with various groups and in the studio before forming Honey Cone in Edna Wright, a Los Angeles native, grew up singing in the church. Her father, Bishop J. Jack Nitzsche , an associate of Spector, produced her first feature recording in Carolyn Willis began singing at the age of 16, she was a member of the girl group the Girlfriends.

If you needed an apartment, or a used car, or a job, you picked up a newspaper and spent hours combing through the entire section of tiny-font classifieds, looking for anything that might possibly work, deciphering the acronyms that people would come up with because the newspaper was charging by the letter. This was a terribly inefficient way to get anything done, but in a pre-Craigslist era, we made do. I got my first two real full-time jobs — selling cut-rate layaway bedroom sets to broke people in an East Baltimore furniture store, stuffing envelopes at the Maryland State Bar Association — because of newspaper want ads.
