Drizzt Do'Urden , a drow , or dark elf, was originally written as a supporting character in the Icewind Dale Trilogy to Wulfgar the barbarian. SiNafay had arranged for Masoj to be the young warrior's tutor, and the wizard was determined to find some weakness in Drizzt that he could exploit if their two Houses ever fell into the expected conflict. At their first meeting, the uniquely honorable and kind-hearted Zaknafein took an immediate liking to Drizzt, forming a bond of companionship that was not a wise move according to Malice. You might argue that Drizzt's weaponmaster, Zaknafein, successfully maneuvers his way around Drow culture while keeping his own moral code intact, but this is easily refuted by examining Zak and Drizzt's familial relationship itself don't want to spoil, just keep in mind that their relationship is critical to the story.
