Wow, that was quite the dark and twisty ride! Anna has been filling in as a BBC presenter for a colleague on maternity leave. When the colleague returns, Anna goes back to being a reporter. A dead body is found in the woods near the small town where Anna grew up. Anna is sent to report on the case. The town holds sad memories for Anna of her infant daughter, who died.

Ours and theirs. His and hers. Which means someone is always lying. He moved here from London, back to the village where he grew up, when his marriage ended after the death of his infant daughter. He suffers from insomnia. Jack is keeping many secrets, one of which is that he drinks to excess. When put in charge of a murder, he immediately recognizes the victim as a woman he had slept with the night before. Hiding his relationship with the victim, he soldiers on. But then he realizes that SOMEONE is trying to frame him for the murder when he finds the victims muddied shoes in the back of his car. Is someone trying to frame him? OR, has he forgotten what he did????
It did keep me guessing, and I went back and forth with my suspicious until I thought again I had things figured out just to find out I didn't.

Feeney improves on her debut with a taut suspense plot, many gleeful twists and turns, and suspects galore. A news presenter and a police detective are brought together by murders in the British village where they both grew up. Which only makes sense, because you can't have reveals without secrets.

There are always two sides to every story-meaning someone is always lying In this case, we have three: Anna Andrews-BBC presenter covering a murder in Blackdown, the sleepy, countryside village she grew up in. Add to that the small town setting surrounded by dark creepy woods, the feeling of urgency to get to the bottom of things, the constant second guessing, and the shocking ending.
