Our retail farming business began in when Howard and Elsie Herrle began growing a few acres of sweet corn and selling it from their garage. The Herrle name soon became known for its fresh from the field sweet corn. In , we built our Farm Market and extended our season to October We also expanded our field production of sweet corn, peas, beans, cucumber, beets, spinach, zucchini, squash, and pumpkins. In the same year, a bakery was built in our Farm Market. Customers were greeted with the aroma of freshly baked pies, muffins, butter tarts, chelsea buns, and cookies! In , we expanded our Market with a beautiful post and beam addition that was hand notched, pegged and constructed by a team of local Mennonite craftsmen.
