Hellhounds are mid to high level demons often given as a Slayer assignment to mid to high level players. The introduction of the Summoning skill brought about a rise in players killing them due to their gold charm drop rate. They have the third highest combat level of any monster outside of Daemonheim in F2P, surpassed by the deadly red spider and revenant knight. Hellhounds are also known for their very high drop rate of hard clue scrolls. Hellhounds may also be purchased to guard a player's dungeon in the Construction skill see here. With the removal of Bounty Hunter , hellhounds were put in the Wilderness Volcano.

Jun Out of Hellhounds and Bunyips, which do you think is a better familiar to take to medium-level Slayer tasks to make food less necessary? I have had good results from as Hellhound test but they take more time to make than I like. I'm on 67 Summoning right now so my own Bunyip testing must wait a bit. I'm not worried about bonus Melee skill training. Jan Mar I feel like Hellhounds are a bit overkill for mid-level Slayer. They're incredibly good for their low price. I agree that Hellhounds are functionally overkill for my purpose.

Hellhounds have a low defence for their levels, but make up for this with a high strength level. The level 92 and 95 hellhounds have maximum hits of and , respectively. All hellhounds are weak to slash attacks, except for the hellhounds in the God Wars Dungeon , which are weak to water spells. If the hellhounds become unaggressive, simply exit and engage combat with a hellhound, and then enter the resource dungeon to make them aggressive again. These hellhounds have moderate spawn rates and are usually found fighting other followers, making it an ideal method for killing them without requiring a lot of food. However, they do not drop any charms and have a higher combat level than the ones found elsewhere. Even though they offer larger experience per kill, the constant movement required to search for a hellhound will most likely negate the effect.

The Taverley hellhound resource dungeon is a resource dungeon found near the hellhounds at the end of the Taverley Dungeon. A Dungeoneering level of 55 is required to enter. With 80 Agility , it is extremely quick to reach because players can jump over the spiked blade trap near the entrance of Taverley Dungeon in addition to the nearby lodestone.
