The now retired Archer joins the investigation, and Captain Lisa Watson warns Davies not to interfere. The coroner reveals that the victim, Carrie Cooper, had frequently been treated for broken bones. Truman attempts suicide but survives, and her alibi is confirmed. Ruiney realizes the killer will claim seven more victims, with a new murder every night. Fleeing by motorcycle, the killer is pursued by the detectives and Davies, but escapes when their car is struck by a semi-trailer truck. Davies is abducted by the real Hangman, but tears off his necklace. Taking her to a mausoleum , he places her in a noose rigged to a ceiling fan. Discovering Davies has been taken, Archer finds the pendant and realizes the Hangman is the driver he arrested a year ago. Watson calls with news that the killer is live streaming video of Davies online, leading them to the mausoleum, where Archer confronts the Hangman. Ruiney shoots and wounds the Hangman, and the detectives free Davies. As Ruiney grapples with the Hangman, Archer throws the killer off a staircase, but fatally strikes his head and dies.

The great works still hold up, and he can do what he wants with his retirement years. It doesn't get smarter from there. The silliness starts when a New York Times reporter named Christi Davies Brittany Snow , who mentions she was nominated for a Pulitzer lest you think this is a little silly, comes to do a story about the police because, ya know, things have been strained between officers and the public lately. Back to this nonsense. On the same night Christi gets to the station, she goes with Ruiney on a case straight out of a James Patterson novel. OK then.

This is a sequel that has been in the works for quite some time, with reports of test screenings dating as far back as Sure, long-delayed releases are rarely a good sign for any movie, let alone a low-budget horror movie. That having been said, for those who enjoyed the first entry, this looks very much like it was cut from the same cloth as The Hangman is back for more blood. The trailer is very much just a teaser and opts to focus on one scene for most of its second runtime, as opposed to showing us all that much. We see some teenagers gathered around, reading a play all about The Hangman. Things then get a little funky in a not-so-good, horror movie kind of way, before they rapidly escalate to deadly. We then see several shots in quick succession detailing the carnage coming our way. It maintains the found footage aesthetic of its predecessor and feels very much in the same universe as what came before. Directors Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing return for the sequel, which they also wrote.
