I'm sure this has been asked before but is there away to play Halflife original and Blue Shift as well? A friend gave me the 2 original disks recently. I've tried several ways already, but they didn't work. Thank you in advance! You should be able to plug the CD keys for those games into Steam.

The main menu loaded up fine although the company logos were unskippable for some reason , I set up my controls and clicked New Game. But when I did, I was taken to a low-resolution view of my desktop instead of the game display. The game was running, I could hear the tramline announcer and the rest of the game sound, but absolutely no display. Attempting to Pause the game took my back to the menu as normal, but resuming would just continue to send me to the desktop. I've tried using compatability mode for Windows and Windows XP - Service Pack 3, as it worked fine on those operating systems, but to no avail. Are you using a Voodoo 1 or 2 card? Wow, somehow I missed that first line. I changed the video mode to openGL default drivers and it works. Thank you, I should have figured it by myself. It's just annoyingly long, irritatingly bombastic, and gratuitously gross. Someone said this game "peaks out too soon". I have to agree. I think survival horror elements work best when they take place in the natural world for contrast and it is this reason that makes the office complex levels of the game the most thrilling. The other-dimensional levels sometimes smack too much of someone sitting around thinking, "okay, it's another dimension, so what would be weird to discover there?
