October 9, , PM aegrescit. I recently purchased a new Glock This is my first handgun, and I am relatively new to handgun shooting. During my third trip to the range, I started to get some failures to feed, maybe once every 20 rounds. At this point, I had shot about rounds through the pistol.

Modern handguns are generally extremely reliable, but there are some common Glock malfunctions that are useful to be aware of, so you can fix them quickly. The extractor part of the Glock is a small, spring-loaded part which is designed to help remove fired cartridges from the chamber of the gun. If this part fails, it is often because there has been damage to the extractor depressor channel. If this is the case, the additional friction between the extractor and the depressor spring will slow movement, potentially causing issues. The problem may also be caused by a broken extractor. There may not be enough tension to give the bullet a good pathway into the chamber. If you are having problems and you think your extractor might be the cause, invest in a Glock extractor plunger assembly to get to the bottom of the problem and fix it. Feeding can sometimes be a reason for Glock malfunctions. For example, the bullet may not be loaded into the chamber correctly when the Glock Slide Back Plates enters the battery. This can result in the nose of the bullet pointing up or down. Feeding failures are mostly a result of poor magazines, feed ramps and poor recoil springs.

Good luck.

I continue to try to rack it and finally the slide came all the way back in place. I then tried to rack shell into the cylinder and it would not load.

I purchased the firearm late last year, cleaned and lubricated it, and put rounds through it. Rotating the three magazines, I had three nose-up failure to feeds with PMC Bronze rounds into the magazine, two of which were back-to back. I chalked it up to the PMC Bronze ammunition. I went ahead and ordered some new PMC Bronze for a future range trip to rule out a problem with the batch. Again, I experienced 5 more failures to feed only with the PMC Bronze mostly on the first or second round in the magazine, and once on the 10th round.

When I put a magazine in and either manually rack the slide or release the slide from the slide stop it fails to feed the ammo into the barrel, on the first round or any other round. It is a brand new Glock 17 gen 5 I have no idea why it is jamming. All the parts are original and from the factory and the magazines are original gen 5 Glock magazines that came with it.

But I recently put rounds thru it last Monday and the problem persists. Some of the more serious issues require the tools, experience, and skill of a gun smith. If the magazine spring is weak, you may find that the round was not chambered even as a fresh magazine was loaded into the handgun with plenty of force. Once you enter the, 'shift my grip' experimental stage it's all over. I know that I'm fishing; good luck.

Although it is easy to clear this malfunction, it is very frustrating and can cost precious seconds in a live engagement or competition. Replies 15 Views Featured Listings! JavaScript is disabled. Gets jammed crooked or sideways? If it jams with several mags, it needs to go back to Glock. I get it - most of my glocks are all factory. You said your husband is an experienced shooter but had problems too. Most pistols have an internal spring connected to the slide stop assembly which prevents inadvertent upward movement.
