If you find one of the missions you're doing is a little too tough, just turn tier mode off, then re-enable it before the mission is over, you'll still get the tier point reward for the mission but you will miss out on the tier points for tagging and killing enemies and picking up resources. Also, if you play Ghost mode in coop there's a way to get the full reward for certain missions and then get the half reward without having to redo the entire mission.
