It depicted your typical dysfunctional family that got into all kinds of G-rated shenanigans, but over the course of 24 minutes, they managed to find whatever solution was needed for the predicament plaguing them for the day. The basic premise is set up in the pilot episode. Danny Tanner Bob Saget is devastated following the death of his wife. To stay sane while raising his three daughters, Danny enlists the help of his brother-in-law Jesse John Stamos and his best friend Joey Dave Coulier. Naturally, there are some growing pains to work through, but as the show goes on, the unconventional family becomes closer than ever, as they all learn how to be there for one another. The show had a stellar eight-season run, and it makes sense that some fans may only remember the later episodes. But let's take a step back all the way to that first episode.

The girls are rockin' when Uncle Jesse is left in charge of them for the night, but Danny is reeling when he arrives home to find Jesse conducting band practice. Stephanie's reluctance to attend her first day of school disappears when Joey and Jesse visit her kindergarten class. A frantic search for Jesse's missing pet turtle leaves the Tanner home disheveled, just before an unexpected visit from the guys' mothers. This is not the actual pilot for the series. The unaired pilot with basically the same plotline as this episode was shot with John Posey as Danny — because Bob Saget , the producers' first choice for the role, was unavailable, due to a prior commitment. His mother, Claire , had been staying with the family to help out, but when she must go back to Seattle , he asks his brother-in-law Jesse and his childhood best friend Joey to move in to help him take care of the girls: ten-year-old D. Joey and Jesse's first day includes changing a diaper. Since they're rookies, they struggle in their efforts to care for Michelle. The other girls have a difficult time adjusting to the living arrangements.

In the first season, shortly after Danny's wife Pam dies, her brother Jesse moves in to help Danny with the girls, along with Joey, Danny's best friend since childhood. Michelle is only a year old, Stephanie is five years old and is in kindergarten, and D. For this season only, the show experiments with Tuesday airings, alternating with Tuesdays and Fridays, and even airing the show on both days of the week within the same week. It starts with a close-up with Michelle in her car seat, then fades to Michelle napping in her car seat with a zoom-out with the family riding on the Golden Gate Bridge in Danny's car "Bullet", followed by a fade to another zoom-out.
