Formula 1's final practice session at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix featured a frantic five-minute qualifying simulation after a hefty Zhou Guanyu crash shortened the running. FP3 is Bearman's only track time with the Ferrari SF before he tackles his first F1 qualifying session later today. His own session was largely drama-free and while he did lose some running because of Zhou's red flag-inducing shunt, he managed to get one qualifying simulation in at the end of FP3, setting the 10th-fastest time with that. A red-flagged FP3 would have been the worst-case scenario for Bearman and Ferrari before the session. Fortunately, either side of the interruption, he managed to complete the bulk of the programme designed to give him a quick-fire introduction to the SF ahead of his first ever F1 qualifying session and his grand prix debut on Saturday.
Max Verstappen set the fastest time in FP3 to lead his Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez by over six tenths of a second — and the rest of the field by nearly a second — as the championship leader swept all three practice sessions before qualifying in Saudi Arabia. Verstappen, who led FP1 and FP2 on Friday, followed that up with another table-topping performance on Saturday afternoon, having equipped softs to set a lap of 1m The Dutchman improved steadily throughout the session with the track gripping up from spent tyre rubber, and temperatures decreasing towards sunset. Perez ended up 0. He was the last driver within a second of the Dutchman, as Lance Stroll was 1.

Verstappen looked hooked up around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Friday, and while it was George Russell who was quickest after the first runs on soft tyres, three-time world champion Verstappen moved back on top when the teams took out the fuel and went for a proper qualifying simulation. He clocked a 1m Albon, though, was the star as he repeated the supreme pace he showed in FP1 with another corker of a lap to add evidence to the theory that Williams could be a real shock package this weekend. Home favourite Perez was very much in the mix in third, 0. Russell was the leading Mercedes in fourth, the Briton telling his team on the radio that he was surprised by the lack of improvement when bolting on fresh softs and taking the fuel out of a car that looks reasonably competitive. Oscar Piastri was just over half a second off the pace in fifth for McLaren, with Valtteri Bottas continuing his fine form this weekend with sixth for Alfa Romeo. Yuki Tsunoda has a long weekend ahead of him, having taking a suite of new engine and gearbox parts that will confine him to the back of the grid. As a result, he spent much of the session focusing on long runs — but when he bolted on the softs for a qualifying sim with a couple of minutes to go, he popped into seventh. Albon was second fastest in FP3 thanks to a stellar lap in his Williams.
