On the plus side, the character and creature models have been sharpened up no end. On the minus side, the rest of the assets, designed for being rendered at x rather than p, haven't. The high quality of the art style means that this isn't such an issue in towns and dungeons, but the overworld, where you'll spend a distressing amount of your time, is a disaster. Being taken from the PC port makes the remaster worse in some aspects than the PS1 original. For example, since there is no real analogue support, you are restricted to moving in cardinal directions. Because of this, there was one sidequest that I simply couldn't complete until I rotated the world map so that my character was facing a cardinal direction. The best of these is the L3 button press that speeds everything up by a factor of 3.
