MagicCon: Chicago--the latest Wizards Of The Coast's Magic: The Gathering-themed convention--kicked off today, and at the traditional day one preview panel , Wizards Of The Coast showed off new cards for multiple sets due to launch in One of them is a collaboration with Assassin's Creed, and we got a first look at Ezio, Altair, and more. The set will also feature cards based on the game's interpretations of real-world historical figures, with Cleopatra and Leonardo da Vinci shown as examples. Other cards revealed include the Animus, which is used to travel back in time and re-live the life of the Assassins, and the Hidden Blade, an Assassin's favorite weapon. The panel also revealed a card called Haystack, a reference to an Assassin's favorite hiding spot.

With lots of talk surrounding which Assassin's Creed character may replace Ezio , it is good to catch up on Ezio's story from a vengeful child to a wise and powerful master assassin. Ezio's story spans throughout three games in the series, as well as an animated short film. Hailing from Italy during the Renaissance era, Ezio traveled around the world, unraveling Templar plots and finding ancient Isu artifacts of immense power. He was critical to the main storyline of the first few games in the series, even speaking to Desmond, the game's modern day protagonist, from the past at one point during Revelations. The Assassin's Creed franchise is known for its stealth and parkour focused gameplay and its complex narratives in historically accurate settings.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze — was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance , and, unbeknownst to most historians and philosophers, a Master Assassin and the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins , a title which he held from to A member of the House of Auditore , Ezio remained unaware of his Assassin heritage until the age of 17, when he witnessed the hanging of his father Giovanni and two brothers, Federico and Petruccio. Forced to flee his birthplace with his remaining family members—his mother Maria and sister Claudia —Ezio took refuge with his uncle Mario in the Tuscan town of Monteriggioni , at the Villa Auditore. After learning of his heritage from Mario, Ezio began his Assassin training and set about on his quest for vengeance against the Italian Templars and their Grand Master , the Spaniard Rodrigo Borgia , who had ordered the execution of his kin.
