Elderseal is a new attribute introduced in Monster Hunter: World that has many hunter scratching their heads trying to figure out its purpose. While it doesn't have a lot of use for most of the monsters in the game, it's incredibly helpful when facing certain Elder Dragons, and we'll tell you how it works. Essentially, using a weapon with Elderseal will prevent certain monsters in Monster Hunter: World from using their special aura abilities as often and can seal away their rage. Each can build up powerful auras, which can cause significant trouble for hunters if left to grow. If you've fought Kirin, you'll know how difficult it can be to damage it when it becomes enraged and lightning begins to rain down on you and your group.

Specifically found in weapons that deal Dragon damage, this feature can stagger and debuff an Elder Dragon when it is activated. Elderseal has specific effects on the Elder Dragons in the game - namely lowering rage mode duration and dissipating the special aura around them. This makes it easier to do damage to these powerful, end-game monsters. Each weapon with Elderseal has one of three levels of effectiveness - low, average, and high. You can check the level of their Elderseal rate by checking the equipment info in each specific weapon. Weapons that are forged from the Dragonbone Tree usually have the Dragon element attribute and have a level of Elderseal. Bowguns do not have the Elderseal feature but are capable of equipping Dragon Ammo - a type of ammo that deals Dragon Damage and can activate Elderseal. You can boost the rate of your Elderseal by equipping the skill "Elderseal Boost". This skill increases the level of your Elderseal by one. Use your Slinger and shoot these Dragon Pods towards the monster for a chance to trigger Elderseal.
