The website has an auto student enrolment feature that adds your students to your course website. Moodle eClass supports numerous LMS applications and tools.
Every year, at the end of August, we upgrade Moodle to the latest stable version. This year, as much as we wanted to, doing a traditional upgrade was not possible. The latest version of Moodle requires database features that our current version cannot handle. Because we have massive, 8 years worth of Moodle data, we would have had to remove access to Moodle for at least 3 days in order to upgrade our current database. That is not an option. To achieve this, we have created a new Moodle instance, now called eClass, on state-of-the-art technologies. This will provide York University with the most robust and high-performing system possible.

You must have a York's Zoom Pro account before you can add a meeting to your course in eClass, otherwise you will get an error. After this, you will be able to add a Zoom meeting in eClass. You'll need a Passport York username and password to login to eClass. The first time you access eClass, you'll be prompted to confirm your email address. Once you've entered your email we'll send you a quick email to that address. You'll need to follow the instructions in that email to confirm and then you'll be all set up to receive announcements from eClass. If you do not confirm your email address you will get stuck on your profile page until the confirmation link sent to that email is clicked. On the top of the eClass site, you will see a couple of menu options. Click on the My courses text, this will take you to a new page with a list of all your courses on eClass that have been made available to you.

When requesting an eClass course based on another instructor's course, you will first need the instructor to assign you the role of "Course Import" within the course. UIT has developed a tool to automatically move courses from one server to another. Course announcements Moodle does not support restoring course announcements. When migrating content from Moodl e to an eClass course, you will have to first "Backup" the course from the Moodle server, then use "Restore" to migrate the content to your eClass course. Of course, courses with larger files, such as videos, may take longer than others to transfer. Therefore, if activated there will be no need to create "tutorial" groups for the main course.
