Divine smite 5e
By duncan. On October 21, Regular readers of this blog hypothetical beings of extreme awesomeness will know that I like to have a little bitch and moan about elements of the game that — in my gaming experience at least — have proved overpowereddivine smite 5e, creating imbalance in the gameplay. I once made the mistake of asserting that the Paladin class is overpowered on a large Facebook forum divine smite 5e, whilst a few people heartily concurred with me, the majority shot me down with lots of assumptions about how I was playing the game all wrong, but little in the way of convincing argument.
Paladin Smite Mechanics are Horribly Done. Joined: Oct Istanagh Vlandis OP. Istanagh Vlandis. Im Just going to lay it out for you all, Here it is: Paladin Smite mechanics are the primary mechanic of the class and if they are done poorly then the Paladin is done poorly.

Divine Smite is a level 1 spell. Divine Smite allows a Paladin to expend a Spell Slot to deal additional Radiant damage with a melee weapon attack. Your weapon emanates divine might as you strike, dealing an additional 2d8 Radiant DRS damage. Deals an additional 1d8 Radiant damage to Fiends and Undead. From Baldur's Gate 3 Wiki. Also see Divine Smite reaction. Classes: Class Level 2: Paladin.
Whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon, the creature takes an extra 1d8 radiant damage. Oh, and do some low-key debunking of the claim Divine Smite is overpowered and in need of a nerf. In DnD 5e, Divine Smite is a 2nd-level Paladin feature that deals an additional 2d8 9 average radiant damage to a target that you hit with a melee weapon attack. You must expend a 1st-level spell slot to do so. This damage scales by 1d8 4. Divine Smite deals an additional 1d8 damage if the target is undead or a fiend. This does not require expending a spell slot, and this damage stacks with regular Divine Smite damage, if you use the 2nd-level feature. You choose to use Divine Smite after an attack hits. Critical hits double the amount of Divine Smite dice you roll.

Cheers mate d. What about Conjure woodland creatures? I won't Paladins fall off hard; especially against the stronger monsters that start coming in in higher levels. I agree. Glad you like Blogofholding! More than just a combat-focused adventure, Dragonbowl is a Bacchanalian-style festival with its own economy and ecology. Oh, one small suggested fix to your fix! I totally agree with the principle, but Divine Smite is one ability that is so far beyond the norm it effectively allows you to cast a spell, with no saving throw, every time you make a melee hit… obliterating the action economy of the game! Being able to cut foes down so quickly renders the rest of the party as spectators all too often.
Whether sworn before a god's altar and the witness of a priest, in a sacred glade before nature spirits and fey beings, or in a moment of desperation and grief with the dead as the only witness, a paladin's oath is a powerful bond.
Thus rendering so many middling options pointless. Anyhow, the solution is simply to make using divine smite require a bonus action see comments below and that makes the game a lot more fair. I still feel like its easier and more fun to push balance changes up than down. Average in the face with is fiery breath weapon. Yes I watched the Lost City of Omu too! DM: Ok, Mr. They can still keep up with paladins though. Why play anything other than a Paladin, right? Hi Talis I am not too familiar with sorcerers, however as I understand quickened spells allow you to cast a spell that takes an action as a bonus action instead, however you can still only cast one spell a round plus a cantrip. Its what my DM does, anyways, and it certainly works fine.
Certainly. All above told the truth. Let's discuss this question. Here or in PM.
