It really has to do with a man who is afraid of intimacy, but craves it at the same time. When he talks about how he wants these things "deep in the night" he refers to the deep, dark nights of his soul when he wishes he could achieve a soulful bond with a woman. Also, when the female voice comes in, it is just a figment of his imagination. That is why she says:.
