Throughout the series of Chainsaw Man, we see how he is manipulated, betrayed, and treated like an animal as he fights for his life. Even when he can find joy in the midst of such turmoil, it is taken away from him. To say Denji had a bad childhood would be a tremendous understatement. His father was a physically and emotionally abusive alcoholic. To make matters worse, he died when Denji was only five years old. He inherited nothing but a mountain of debt his father owed to the Yakuza. It comes as no surprise Denji was actually the one who killed his father, as his father, in a drunken state, had attacked him and threatened his l ife.

Chainsaw Man chapter was released earlier this week, bringing with it what many fans are calling author and illustrator Tatsuki Fujimoto's best writing of the story's second part thus far. This is largely due to a moment within the issue which focuses on Denji and Pochita and serves as the peak of the former's character arc throughout the series thus far.
