After a long game, you've got your friend on the ropes. Next turn you can swing for the win. Then he taps out for Impervious Greatwurm. Okay, that's a problem. Good thing you have another copy of Doom Blade ready to go. You tap two mana, target the Greatwurm, and… your friend is smirking.

Any cards that say they can destroy it are no longer able. For example, the player may choose or need to sacrifice their Indestructible card. If a long time magic player such as myself not claiming to be a pro or anything just been around awhile looks at this interaction and logic kicks in saying it should have to deal the full toughness for obvious reasons, then I'm sure many other people would come to the same conclusion. There are plenty of black cards that force your opponent to sacrifice a creature, dumping them out of play like expired sushi. Chaap 5 years ago 8 it's unintuitive because it ignores things like protection and indestructible but factors in deathtouch. It just looks at the toughness of the defending creature to know how much is "lethal". Since this rule specifically says "put into its owner's graveyard" and not "destroyed," this also applies to indestructible creatures. If you do, however, Shadowspear ability can make all of them destructible for just one mana. Protection prevents the damage. Now add protection and trample. Which is crazy, but I'm almost certain that's how it works. Good thing you have another copy of Doom Blade ready to go.

Ultimately player B just said whatever since we were arguing for like 10 minutes. This is sort of a rules hack. Same is true for protection. So if your opponent casts Darksteel Juggernaut , what are you supposed to do? I wouldn't run this over Duplicant or another exile effect most of the time, but if one of my friends decides to build a deck full of Gods and Darksteel artifacts , I'm slotting Shadowspear no questions asked. Player A says 4 damage tramples over because he only needs to assign 1 damage to B's creature Player B and I player C both think he is wrong since he can't assign 1 as lethal damage since it is indestructible and he has to assign the full toughness of the creature. But your opponent will still take 11 damage each time. Cons: Many offensive Auras hinder a creature, but don't remove it entirely. An indestructible creature can still be dealt damage, hence it makes sense that the 1 damage from deathtouch would kill it if it were not indestructible. It's very rare that you'll go up against more than one indestructible creature at once. How can you say, "well, your guy was in the way but somehow my guy ran around it and got through to you, but it still tried to hit your guy on the way there even though your guy cannot be physically harmed by my guy.
