Publication number: Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprises detecting, by a processor of a first host of one or more hosts in a distributed computing environment, a distributed task waiting to be started, from a replicated configuration system, the distributed task being represented by a pending tasks key. The method comprises starting, by the processor, the distributed task by performing an atomic compare and swap operation to add a started key to the replicated configuration system. The method also comprises writing a specification of the distributed task to the replicated configuration system under a new version of a current tasks key. In addition, the method comprises removing, following the writing, the pending tasks key from the replicated configuration system.

It'd be useful to know what the end goal is for ThePhd, like what would be a satisfactory outcome for them? What happened to them was hurtful, I understand and sympathise with that. However when one steps back and reads their responses, coupled to an extent with their writing of course someone else would reach a diff conclusion , they appear to be an aggressive and maybe even vindictive character. You can't really quit the way you did, and then still dangle things like [0]. People who utter such things out can portray an "I'll get you" attitude. Then when someone responds and you're unhappy with their response, you agress and call them a m therf cker [1]. Some might consider it to be too late, however some form of mediation might still be necessary. You're saying he's not allowed to give Rust another shot and then leave Rust again once yet more bullshit is thrown his way from prominent members of the Rust community? Why not? Is your problem with it that he decided to use Rust for that project or that he decided to move away from Rust for that project? There's things a reasonable and mature person doesn't dangle knowing that it's unfruitful. I'll give you an example of my impression of their comment. You ask your child to clean their room when you leave for work.

The move has generated a fair amount of push back among developers who worry about its future legal and technical implications, along with a potential for supply chain attacks, should the maintainer account publishing these binaries be compromised. According to the Rust package registry, crates. About three weeks ago, a Rust programmer using the Serde project in their application noticed something odd. Serde is a commonly used ser ialization and de serialization framework for Rust data structures that, according to its website , is designed to conduct these operations "efficiently and generically. Whereas, " derive " is one of its macros. Valentini further inquired to the project maintainers, how were these new binaries "actually produced," and if it would be possible for him to recreate the binaries, as opposed to consuming precompiled versions. David Tolnay, who is the primary Serde maintainer, responded with potential workarounds at the time. But, that's not to say that everyone is pleased. Following an influx of comments from developers as to why the decision wasn't best suited for the project, Tolnay acknowledged the feedback , prior to closing the GitHub issue.

I have a vague memory of the Ruby community from around going through dramas as well, but at least it wasn't in the core-lang layer.
